45. Log Cabin Variation

45. Log Cabin Variation by Mule Hill
45. Log Cabin Variation, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2-ish x 2" block.

I always make the width wider than the height when I hand piece. It's a thing.

Still sick. Plbbt!

43. Four Patch

43. Four Patch by Mule Hill
43. Four Patch, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block. Unpressed.

I was making a four patch variation but I'm too sick to continue. I've got Solomon Burke style stage theatrics playing in my head--cape and all. "I can't go on... I'm the King of Rock 'n Soul!!!" Delirious. Must lie down.

40. Molly

40. Molly by Mule Hill
40. Molly, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block.

I wish EQ ran everything in a cloud. I only use the desktop about once a month. An EQ app would suffice.

What are the origins of Owen and Molly? No idea. Maybe I will remember to look them up the next time I use EQ7.

2" block.

Points looked good until I pressed it. I like blue and orange and temperance blocks (see flickr av).

36. Mini Dixie Diary, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block.

Too lazy to go through my scrap bag. I don't know the Blockbase number for this block. It's just a four patch with wings.

4 Weeks, 4 Rows

4 Weeks, 4 Rows by Mule Hill
4 Weeks, 4 Rows, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

Might make sets of four weeks for the next year. One set down, twelve sets to go.

13 * 4 = 52

Oops block. Can't decide whether to fix it by machine or micron pen. Hmm.

32. Simplicity

32. Simplicity by Mule Hill
32. Simplicity, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block.

Who doesn't love making four patch variations on a mellow Sunday afternoon? Well, probably someone who hates sewing or sewers or sewing sewers. Other than that, nobody!

Reds got rusty. That block is really pinks and blues. Que sera.

Speaking of Doris Day (although Que Sera, Sera reminds me of Hitchcock first, Technicolor second, the odds of Jimmy Stewart having a son who looks like Little Hank third, my love for a good women's suit fourth --although that really should be first-- and, finally, Doris Day), I saw the opening sequence of Do Not Disturb last night. I can't believe I have never seen it before. My mind has been blown by I don't know what. Disturbed. I can't explain it. The movie didn't hold my attention.

The entire film is on youtube but you have to sign in to confirm your age. It is adult content. LOL

31. Party Cat #2

31. Party Cat #2, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block. A converted flower pattern. Different than #1.

I would have made the knit print directional if I had bigger pieces.

30. X

30. X by Mule Hill
30. X, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block.

X marks the spot. Pirate mythology. I have quite a pit of pirate related fabric. I should use them!

Also, dirty thirty. Do I have any "blue" fabric? Thinking, thinking... No.

Still do not have my good camera and my cell just bricked. Thank goodness for eye-fi.

Heading into week 5.

27. Terrier

27. Terrier by Mule Hill
27. Terrier, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

It was randomly pieced and then there was a dog. It wasn't supposed to be a dog. It wasn't supposed to be anything.

My grandmother's family always had terriers. I have a terrier mix. He doesn't look like this block but he does have the terrier brain. Zing, zing, zing!

2" block. Didn't square the top because I like it.

26. Shoo Fly

26. Shoo Fly by Mule Hill
26. Shoo Fly, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

9 out of 10 neighbors are A-OK.

La, la... so, this is a 2" x 1.5" block. Dull and squat (like 1 out of 10 neighbors). La, la, la..

Seriously, a great block for a repetitive mini quilt. Always looks striking. Or, creepy. Sometimes it looks like an old hex mark to me.

I did not put it together properly because that's how I am. I was making something else when a neighbor changed my mind.

Don't look up the song's history! If I were to rename this block, it would be... Ignorance, 1 out of 10 Neighbors Escaped from an Asylum, Pet a Pet (good for blood pressure) or I Like Pie (and bacon and bacon pie).

Good news: better camera beginning tomorrow. Thank goodness.

I forgot to square it up after starching. :0/

Imagine a 2" or smaller block.

24. Ostrich

24. Ostrich by Mule Hill
24. Ostrich, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

2" block. Applique pattern from A Bountiful Life book. It's an ostrich head on the Bird of Paradise quilt. Will look better with sashing. Promise.

I had it in my head to make a black silhouette. I'm out of black fabric. Used the nearest scrap instead.

Applique looks dodgy while looking great in real life (I am quite blind).

22. Barn

22. Barn by Mule Hill
22. Barn, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.
2" block.

Paper piece pattern from EQ/Blockbase.

Scraps from a Craftsy tote bag, red and white plane doll quilt and the leaves are from a Connecting Threads sale (I think, maybe).

I know people who live in a barn like this one but barns mostly make me think of books and TV. Fictional people like Lennie and George, Sophia and small town zombies. And, how many times have I seen a character jabbed with a pitchfork? Eeek!

21. Collie

21. Collie by Mule Hill
21. Collie, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

No, really. A Collie dog like Laddie and Lassie. From the bowels of EQ or Blockbase.

The end of week three. 2" block.

I always think of this block as Twisted Sisters.

More Heart

More Heart by Mule Hill
More Heart, a photo by Mule Hill on Flickr.

No idea why I didn't chop the points off. Autopilot misfire. I'll fold the top over it if it bugs me.

16. Heart

16. Heart by Mule Hill

Always make the left side larger. It's a thing.

Another under two inch -ish block.
